The Red Hots are preparing a digital EP with covers they did of other Hall of Fame artists’ songs. John is on most of them, as these recordings already existed as parts of various releases. In other news, his dad was approached and asked about Hall of Fame and he said he’s proud of his son.

Even thought the last year or so has been fairly quiet in terms of new material; German magazine visions took some time to update people on what John has been doing since he left the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Omar Rodriguez-Lopez shares more information on what John’s up to. In short: he’s got about 300-400 unedited songs recorded from, presumably, 2008 on; they’re mindblowing, a mix of rock and electronic music. He’s not ready to put them out for the world to hear until a certain point in time, but once he does, it will be mind blowing. Confusing? Promising? Both, we’d say!

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ critically acclaimed 2006 double album and their last so far with John will be re-issued on 180 gram vinyl for the 2012 record store day, to honour the band’s Rock and Roll Hall of fame entry. If you did not get it before and you aren’t willing to pay more than its face value through second-hand marketplaces, this could be your chance.
